Now don’t be overwhelmed by this just yet. I would like to present a challenge to you! One that you may find is more of a solution than anything to clearing the clutter from your life. Minimalism has been proven to decrease stress as well as leave us with a more purposeful and meaningful mindset.
Here are 4 tips to help get you started:
1. EVALUATE WHAT YOU HAVE- Let’s take a look at those clothes you haven’t used in years collecting dust at the back of your closet. I’m sure you still look fabulous in them but what purpose are they serving other than taking up space? Donate those babies! Any donation center would gladly take them off your hands.
2. THINK BEFORE YOU BUY- Before you add more stuff and possibly clutter to your life ask yourself the real question. Do I absolutely need this? Your bank account might thank you for this later on as well.
3. LET GO OF THE GUILT ATTACHED TO KEEPING MATERIAL ITEMS- Sometimes the hardest part of letting go of certain items during this process is the guilt we carry about keeping them. All of us own things that we barely use but feel obligated to keep because they are sentimental, expensive or in good condition. Dissociate from this feeling by donating your unwanted items to a new home. A good rule of thumb is if you haven’t used it in over a year, donate/sell it!
4. BE GRATEFUL FOR WHAT YOU DO HAVE- This process isn’t just about clearing space in your home it’s about focusing on the beauty of what you do have no matter how small it is. The more we practice gratitude for everything we own the less we desire to have more. Happiness isn’t measured by the things we own but rather experiences and meaningful relationships that we have.
Now go take control of the clutter in your life, I guarantee you will feel a weight lifted off your shoulders!
Hahaha I can tell you for a fact that I still look great in my middle school gym shorts from 13 years ago. But yeah, my wallet could definitely use a little minimalism
