Zero Waste Movement

This post is a continuation of a Minimalistic Mindset and Reducing your waste, a fusion of both that offers many simple tips. There isn’t just one way to begin your journey to a zero waste lifestyle but being a conscious consumer and reducing your consumption is the most important thing you can do.

Pick just a few of these steps to live by and know that these small changes add up and have a huge impact. We have a choice everyday to help preserve this earth. What will you do today?

  1. Use bar soap instead of liquid soap as it comes with less packaging/plastic.
  2. Turn off the water while brushing your teeth or doing the dishes.
  3. Buy foods without packaging or minimal packaging.
  4. Switch your plastic toothbrush to a bamboo one.
  5. Donate your items that are in good condition to support second hand market.
  6. Ask for no straw in your drink orders.
  7. Turn old sheets and towels into rags, napkins, and cloth produce bags so you don’t have to use plastic produce bags at the grocery store.
  8. Meal prep to avoid food waste.
  9. Plant a small garden for your fruits and veggies and start a backyard compost. You can read more about this in Sustainable Eating.
  10. Reduce your meat consumption, if you aren’t ready to go vegetarian you can just do meatless Monday’s or pick a few days out of the week.
  11. Bring your own reusable cups and to-go containers when eating out.
  12. Swap tea bags for loose leaf.
  13. Make homemade gifts to give friends and family.
  14. Go paperless for all your bills.

As always, I would love to hear your suggestions. Feel free to comment below! 🙂

  1. I think that the meat tip is interesting because that hits on a bunch of larger issues… all these respirating and farting cows causing climate change ?
